what can you tell us about him? >> reporter: you know, that still has a lot of people scratching their heads. we don't know at this point what the motive was behind this mass shooting here. we are, however, learning more about the suspected shooter, who by the way, is behind bars in a county jail, roughly 12 miles from where the shooting happened. he will make his first court appearance on monday, but more about him. he was a p.h.d. student at the university of colorado. he is in the process of withdrawing from the program. and one official at his undergraduate school or university said that he was a very bright student. he was top of the top. he graduated with honors. as far as a criminal past, he really didn't have in. the only brush that he had with the law is last year, a speeding summons. so that's what we're learning about him. in san diego, we know, his hometown, neighbors said he was a clean-cut nice guy but neighbors near colorado said he lived alone and kept to himself. back to you. >> thank you, rene. >>>
